Child & Teen Therapy

When your child or teen feels overwhelmed by big emotions, the right support can help them find their footing.

Watching your child or teen struggle with anxiety, school stress, or big emotions can be difficult and sometimes confusing for families. Many young people don’t yet have the words or tools to explain what they’re feeling, which can show up as worry, irritability, withdrawal, or behavioral changes. Child and teen therapy provides a supportive space where young people can better understand their emotions, build coping skills, and begin feeling more confident navigating the challenges of growing up.

An Overwhelmed Child with Mother

What they’re going through.

Children and teens can feel overwhelmed by worries, social pressure, school demands, or big changes in their lives.

They may struggle to explain what’s bothering them, which can show up as anxiety, irritability, withdrawal, or difficulty focusing. Some young people worry about making mistakes, fitting in with peers, or facing situations that feel new or uncertain.

When these feelings build up, it can leave them feeling stuck, frustrated, or unsure how to cope with what they’re experiencing.

How therapy can help children & teens.

Therapy gives children and teens a supportive place to understand their emotions and learn healthier ways to cope with challenges.

As they develop new skills, many begin to feel more confident handling worries, social situations, and everyday stress. Over time, they often gain a stronger sense of self and greater resilience when facing new or uncertain experiences.

The goal is to help young people feel more steady, capable, and supported both at home and in the world around them.

My approach to child & teen therapy.

My approach to working with children and teens is flexible, supportive, and tailored to their developmental stage.

Younger children may express themselves through play, art, games, or movement, which helps them explore feelings in ways that feel natural and safe. With teens, sessions often focus on building coping skills, navigating friendships and school pressures, and strengthening emotional awareness and confidence.

I also value collaborating with parents when helpful, so the support your child receives in therapy can continue to grow outside of our sessions.

A Teen in Therapy Session

Who is this for?

Child and teen therapy can be helpful for young people who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, school pressures, social challenges, or changes in their lives. Some children struggle with separation worries, difficulty adjusting to new situations, or big emotions they aren’t sure how to express. Teens may be navigating friendship struggles, academic stress, self-esteem concerns, or uncertainty about who they are becoming.

Whether your child is facing a specific challenge or simply needs extra support during a difficult season, therapy can provide a safe space to grow and feel understood.

What your child can expect in therapy.

Every child and teen moves through therapy a little differently, so our work together is guided by their unique needs and pace. My goal is to create a space where they feel comfortable opening up while gradually building skills they can use in everyday life.
